This book is based on a girl named Electra Brown. Electra is a 15 year old, funny, frustrating, liar, who always creates trouble. She comes from a broken home and you will find she is always trying to fix it with her so called 'cunning plans.' Electra has two brilliant friends Sorrel and Lucy. She never likes to visit either of their houses because both of her friends have crazy, obsesive, controling parents. Electra holds a snogibility scale with her friends it is a scale from one to five where they judge guys on their 'hotness' and how well they think these guys can kiss. The guy on the top of their snogibility scale is 'the spanish lurve God.' He is the hottess guy in the suburb, with his striking brown hair and hot body and beautiful smile but unfortunately he is unavailable as he's with 'tits out' the most popular girl in the school and electra's rival.
Electra tries and tries again to get Phil (her mum's boyfriend) out of the picture, but pushes it way to far when her mum and Phil go away for a weekend and hosts a small party which ends up turning into a disaster.
Lucy has a secret that no one knows and one day Sorrel and Electra push her limits. Sorrel returns home curious as to what happened to Lucy and Lucy spills the beans to Electra later that night and makes Electra swear she will not tell a soul. This secret proves way too big for Lucy and Electra to cope with.
This hilarious book is told in first person by Electra, she uses modern slang and nicknames everyone. This gives a direct insight into the mind of Electra Brown which helps give the reader knowledge of Electra's thoughts and interests. The issues addressed in this story are Electra living in a broken home, The party that pushed the limits and Lucy's secret.
I loved this book and couldn't put it down and I will continue to read the sequals. I loved how funny Electra Brown's thoughts were and became frustrated at her too, this is what made me want to read more.
